In a surprising turn of events, renowned author Neil Gaiman has been accused of sexual assault. According to the allegations, the author of “Good Omens” is said to have subjected two women in their early twenties to “rough and degrading sex.” These claims are part of an investigation conducted by Tortoise, but Gaiman has vehemently denied them.
The two women featured in “Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman” have claimed that, despite their consensual relationships with Gaiman, they were subjected to forced sexual encounters. One of the accusers, Scarlett, revealed that after being hired as Gaiman’s child nanny in 2022, she experienced “painful, rough, and degrading penetrative sex” with him. Scarlett also presented evidence, such as messages and notes, to support her allegations.
Gaiman, however, has denied these accusations, asserting that their encounters were consensual and limited to heavy petting. He firmly rejects any claims of abusive behavior.
The second woman, referred to as ‘K’ in the podcast, met Gaiman at a book signing when she was 18 and he was 40. Although she acknowledges that they began dating when she was 20, she alleges that Gaiman sometimes engaged in “painful intercourse” that she neither enjoyed nor requested.
In response to the allegations, Gaiman described them as “extremely disturbing” and denied them outright.
The podcast host, Tortoise, has expressed that he believes K’s allegations stem from her regret over their relationship and that Scarlett may have been affected by a condition related to false memories at the time of her interactions with Gaiman. However, Tortoise also noted that Gaiman’s account is not corroborated by Scarlett’s medical records and history.
On a professional note, Neil Gaiman has been recognized by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people. He is also celebrated as “the most loved living writer,” with several of his works adapted into series by Netflix and Amazon.
